The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that there will be a gradual rise in the number of people experiencing mental health difficulties in the workplace to the year 2020. Stress-related difficulties can lead to accidents and medical problems. This can result in an inability to work efficiently and an increase in sick leave and, as a result, a decline in productivity. In addition, current trends indicate an emphasis on the employer’s responsibility to provide services that meet their employees’ mental health needs and therefore, employee wellbeing is of immediate interest to the corporate world.
County Durham Therapy offers an Employee Wellbeing Service, which can assist organisations in promoting work practices that enhance the wellbeing of staff.
The service offers consultation at 3 levels:
1) Organisational (e.g. Management of change)
2) Educational (e.g. Stress management and assertiveness training)
3) Employee assistance (Individual psychotherapy for staff)
